Dec 14, 2019 · Some time ago I bought this awesome looking "Gold Silk PLA" filament, and though I have been able to get a few successful small prints out of it, I clogs a lot after 1h of printing or so making it impossible to use for larger prints. I haven't had issues with any other filaments, but it seems the silk PLA is more susceptible to heat creep. For big objects this doesn't matter much but for small surface areas it makes a difference. I’ve not spent much time trying to tune it out - instead I largely avoid printing with silk PLA (especially during the summer), and leave the printer door open when I do! Aug 23, 2023 · I have the same problem - caused by the silk filament swelling in the extruder, probably due to heat creep. I use the parameters suggested by the manufacturer: The extrusions are perfects (the printing itself may be improved, but here I'm talking about the extrusion) even if it runs for 20h+. Silk pla needs slower printing and more flow, otherwise I noticed it doesn't stick to itself well.
